One militant was killed and another was injured in an ongoing gunbattle in forests of the Kaseri hills of the Kandi area of the Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir where five soldiers of the elite Special Para Forces of Army were killed yesterday. In the ongoing joint operation by Army, J&K Police & CRPF, at 7 AM the cordon while closing in spotted and pinned down the terrorists. In the ensuing gunbattle, so far huge recoveries have been made in the operation that includes one AK56 assault rifle, four magazines of AK, 56 rounds of AK, one 9 mm pistol with magazine, three grenades & one ammunition pouch. The identity of the neutralised terrorist is being ascertained.

Meanwhile, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh along with Army Chief General Manoj Pandey will visit Rajouri today to assess the ground situation where troops have launched a massive operation after killing 10 army personnel in the past two weeks. The Defence Minister along with Army Chief is likely to chair a high-level security meeting in Jammu before flying back to Delhi. Meanwhile, Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General, Upendra Dwivedi reached Rajouri early morning to review the ongoing operation and he was briefed on all aspects of the operations by ground commanders.
