The notification for election for 10 Rajya Sabha seats from Uttar Pradesh was issued today. Polling for these seats will be held on 9th of November. The Rajya Sabha seats will fall vacant in November due to the completion of the term of the members.
The term of BJP’s Neeraj Shekhar, Arun Singh and Union Housing and Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Samajwadi Party members Professor Ram Gopal Yadav, Dr. Chandrapal Singh Yadav, Ravi Prakash Verma and Veer Singh, Congress’s PL Punia, Javed Ali Khan and Raja Ram of Bahujan Samaj Party from Uttar Pradesh ends on 25th of November. The Election Commission of India had earlier announced the schedule of elections for these seats.
Special Secretary of UP Assembly and Election Officer Braj Bhushan Dubey told AIR that the last date for filing of nominations will be 27th of October and the nomination papers will be scrutinized the following day. Candidates will be able withdraw their candidature by 2nd of November and voting time will be 9 A.M. to 4 P.M. on 9th of November. Counting will be taken up on the same day.
