National Human Rights Commission,NHRC has issued notice to the Maharashtra Government over media reports that six hundred kids allegedly died due to malnutrition in Palghar district this year. Taking suo motu cognisance of media reports, the Commission issued notice to the State Chief Secretary and called for a detailed report within four weeks.
The Commission observed that the state authorities are required to be conscious towards the plight of the residents, especially the children and aged persons.It said, such a huge number of deaths of the children, in a year amount to violation of right to life and health of the poor victims.
