The team met victims along with their families and villagers gathered at the ground of the local Madrasa. Habibullah patiently listened to every victim and their family. He assured them that justice would be done them

They interacted with locals of Bhajanpura village to find out details of the incident. They also visited the site of the proposed factory and later met the acting district magistrate Shashi Bhushan and the Superintendent of Police (SP) Garima Mallik to hear the point of view of the district administration.

Later talking media Habibullah said that the NCM team will submit a detailed report to the Centre on the incident. Describing the police firing incident as unfortunate, the NCM chief said that a peaceful solution could have emerged of the problem.

Meanwhile Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Wednesday said the Patna High Court had nominated a former judge to head a judicial probe which would begin soon into the Forbesganj firing. While  addressing an election rally to canvass support for BJP nominee Kiran Keshri in the bypoll to the Purnia assembly constituency slated for June 25. Kumar informed that the Patna High Court had nominated a retired judge to hold the inquiry and “we hope that the probe will begin soon.”

Five people were killed including a pregnant women and infant and 30 others injured in firing and clash between policemen and locals opposing the construction of a starch factory and approach road in Forbesganj Industrial Area in Araria on June 3.


RJD workers burnt effigies of Nitish, Modi


PATNA: Demanding justice for Forbesganj victims, RJD workers on Wednesday burnt the effigies of the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi at district headquarters across Bihar to protest the state government’s alleged inaction on the Forbesganj police firing.
The protesters raised slogans demanding a judicial probe into Forbesganj police firing incident by a sitting judge of Patna high court and adequate compensation to the families of those killed and injured in police firing.
