NEW DELHI: (AMN) The day of the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, the grandson of Prophet Mohammed was observed throught the country with traditional rituals and sanctity on Friday.
The tenth day of Muharram, the first month of Arabic calendar is observed in memory of the martyrdom of Imam Hussain,, who gave away his life protecting dignity for human values.
In Uttar Pradesh, Muharram processions are being taken out throughout the State. In Lucknow, the decorated Tazias and colorful replicas of Imam Hussein’s tomb at Kerbala are being carried out on streets for burial at different Karbalas in the city. In Lucknow Shia community has taken out a huge procession with Tazias from Nazim sahib Imamabara and burial of tazias will take place at Talkatora Karbala by the evening.
The state police Headquarters spokesperson said that strict security arrangements have been made at all sensitive places in the state.Additional security forces have been deployed in Varanasi, Ayodhya and Gorakhpur.
In Andhra Pradesh, tight security arrangements and traffic diversions were made to facilitate smooth passage of the mammoth procession known as ‘Bibi Ka Alam’ in Hyderabad city.
The mourning started at the historic Bibi ka alam in Dabeerpura and hundreds of Shia mourners are taking part in the procession in which trained elephants carry the alam or the flag, symbolising the martyrs. Thousands of men, women and children joined the traditional Bibi ka alam procession.
