Heavy rain and flooding in northern Mozambique killed at least 38 people.

The flood comes just three days after Cyclone Kenneth killed at least eight people and damaged thousands of houses in the southeast African country.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said many houses have collapsed as a result of rising floodwaters in the northern region’s main city, Pemba.

The UN described it as the strongest cyclone to ever hit the continent and predicted further rain over the coming days.
