Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Col. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore has urged the media to work with responsibility as it affects thinking and views of the people.

Addressing the convocation function of Indian Institute of Mass Communication in New Delhi today, Col Rathore referred to recent terror attack in Paris saying that the media in that country refrained showing pictures of violence.

He said terrorists’ motto is to spread fear among the people by carrying out attacks and somewhere they try to use media in this regard. Col Rathore asked Indian media to show responsibility while covering terror incidents the way Paris terror strike was reported there.

The Minister also stressed the need for self regulation in the media saying freedom of press will never be curtailed. Speaking on the occasion, Information and Broadcasting Secretary Sunil Arora wished the journalism students for their future and recalled that media is not an easy profession. Earlier they conferred degrees to students of 2014-15 session.
