West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has ordered a CID investigation into the explosion at an illegal fire-cracker factory at Pingla in West Midnapore District of West Bengal last night. Twelve persons were charred to death and four others injured in the explosion. IGP (Western Range) S. N. Gupta told media persons that twelve charred bodies have been recovered from the blast spot, while the injured have been admitted to hospital. The house owner Rangan Maiti has been arrested, he added. Police said, the factory was illegal and the blast took place last night. On the reason behind the blast, West Midnapore superintendent of Police Mr. B. Ghosh said, the police is looking into it.
Meanwhile, Congress and BJP have demanded a probe by the National Investigating Agency (NIA) into the incident.
