The Rajya Sabha has been adjourned till Monday. As soon as the House reassembled after 2.30 PM, the noisy scenes continued forcing the House to be adjourned. Earlier, Rajya Sabha witnessed three adjournments in the pre-lunch period today on Vyapam scam with the opposition Congress insisting Prime Minister’s statement on what action he has taken against Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister. This was opposed by the treasury bench members who said that the government is ready for discussion. Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi government is ready for discussion on any issue. Meanwhile, several members belonging to Congress trooped into the well forcing Chairman Mohammed Hamid Ansari to adjourn the House till 1 PM.
Earlier, the House witnessed a 40-minute adjournment on the same issue in the morning. When the House reassembled at 1 PM, Minister of State for Railways Manoj Sinha tabled a statement correcting the answer to an Unstarred question. Later, Mr. Ansari, adjourned the House to meet at 1430 hours to take up Private Members business.
The Lok Sabha reassembled at 2.00 pm after adjournment. The House proceedings are now underway. Earlier, the Lok Sabha has been adjourned till 2 PM amidst continuous uproar. As soon as the House met for the day, the Congress-led opposition members trooped into the well demanding the resignation of External Affairs minister on the Lalit Modi controversy. Amid the din, the Speaker proceeded with the Question Hour. As the members kept shouting slogans, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said she will not adjourn the House. After the Question Hour, the Home minister made a statement on the terrorist attack in Punjab. Later, the Speaker adjourned the House till 2 PM after her repeated appeals for order went unheeded.
