lakhviIndia today said that Lahore High Court order to release Mumbai terror attack mastermind Zakirur Rehman Lakhvi from jail erodes the value of assurances repeatedly given by Pakistan to India on cross border terrorism.

Responding to the Court order which set aside the detention of Lakhvi, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said it was well known that terrorists are not being effectively prosecuted by the neighbouring country.

The spokesperson said it is a real security threat for India and the world. Mr. Akabaruddin said India has conveyed its concerns on this issue to Pakistan in the past also.

Special Public Prosecutor in the Mumbai terror attacks case, Ujjwal Nikam today said that the release of Zaki-ur Rehman Lakhvi exposes Pakistan’s futile effort in showing that it is serious about curbing terrorism. Nikam claimed that the Indian government has provided sufficient material evidence to Pakistan about the terrorist act, masterminded by Lakhvi and committed by Kasab and nine others.

Nikam noted that a judicial commission from Pakistan had visited Mumbai and Lakhvi’s lawyer had cross-examined the Mumbai magistrate who had recorded Kasab’s confession.
