Security forces gunned down a self styled area commander of militant outfit Karbi People’s Liberation Tigers (KPLT) in Karbi Anglong district of Assam yesterday.The army and police conducted joint operation at Belorghat under Samelangshu police station.
The security forces had to engage in a fierce gun battle following which a senior leader of the Karbi outfit got killed. The slain militant was identified as Seme Kro who had been involved in several anti-social activities. Arms and ammunitions were also recovered from the militant . Security forces have also arrested militants from different areas in Kokrajhar and Sonitpur district during last 24 hours..
