One of the main witnesses of sexual assault case against self-styled godman Asaram, was shot at in Shahjahanpur district in Uttar Pradesh, Friday night. He was admitted in Bareilly district hospital where his condition is stated to be critical.
According to police, three unidentified assailants on a bike shot at Kripal Singh, an important witness in the case, while he was returning home. Family members of the victim claimed that Asaram’s associates were behind the attack. Three police teams are investigating the incident and search operations are on to nab the assailants.
Kripal Singh is a main witness in a case of sexual assault in which a girl from Shahjahanpur had alleged that Asaram sexually assaulted her when she visited his Jodhpur ashram. The case was registered by Delhi Police and later transferred to Jodhpur.
