Mass graves containing the remains of at least 400 civilians, reportedly executed by Islamic State group, have been found in Kirkuk province.
Governor of Kirkuk, Rakan Saeed told reporters that the mass grave were discovered in the al-Bakara area, about 3 kilometres north of the city of Hawija. Mr. Saeed said that the area was an American base prior to 2011.
He said at least 400 civilians were dragged, some in their red jumpsuits, and brutally executed by IS group. Colonel Murtada Abbas of the 60th Brigade in the Iraqi military said witnesses to the executions led them to the graves.
