Indo-Kyrgyz ties move closerKyrgyzstan is one of those central Asian nations which has strong relations with India. Festival of India and a conference were organised in Bishkek, the capital city of Kyrgyzstan to strengthen trade and tourism between both the countries.

Central Asia is one of the focus areas for India across various sectors. Kyrgyzstan among the central Asia countries is an important nation and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kyrgyzstan last year and signing four agreements demonstrated the importance that India attaches to a new level of relationship in this region.

And now Kyrgyzstan has organized a conference and a cultural festival to strengthen diplomatic relations between the two countries and especially to boost Tele Medicine and medical tourism.

Indian ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Jayant Khobragade, National Tourism Advisory Council’s advisor from India, various delegates from both the countries participated in the conference.

Tele Medicine has already started between Kyrgyzstan and AIIMS of India. Problems related to Liver and cancer related aspects are on the forefront with respect to Medical tourism between the two nations.

Medicine is one of the major fields where Indians have their strong presence in Kyrgyzstan. Currently 3,500 students are pursuing medical studies in Kyrgyzstan. On the other side, India-Kyrgyz trade was US$38.53 million in 2014-15. India’s exports to Kyrgyzstan was US$37.76 million whereas Kyrgyz exports to India was US$0.77 million.

On the whole, experts believe that the latest events in Kyrgyzstan with respect to India will certainly strengthen the relationship and will boost tourism and trade between India and Kyrgyzstan.
