The External Affairs Ministry has said, the Indian woman working in Saudi Arabia, who was allegedly tortured by her employer leading to her death, died due to natural reasons.
The family of Asima Khatoon had claimed that she lost her life in Riyadh because of torture. Reacting to the reports, External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Vikas Swarup said, one of the officials of the Indian Embassy in Riyadh was informed by King Saud Chest Disease Hospital that she died due to natural reasons.
He said, as per the death report, she died on May 2 due to ‘disseminated TB and multi-organ failure’. Mr Swarup also noted that the sponsor had visited the Embassy on May 3rd and again yesterday for completing the documentation in order to transport her mortal remains to India.
