Indian film Thithi (Kannada) won the best film award at the BRICS Film Festival concluded in New Delhi last evening. Best Director Award went to Huo Jianqi of China. South Africa’s Thabo Rametsi took home the best Actor award while Russian actor Yulia Peresild was given best actress award.

Addressing the closing ceremony of the festival Information and Broadcasting Minister Venkaiah Naidu invited filmmakers of BRICS countries to shoot films in India. Mr Naidu expressed hope that creativity of film fraternity will touch new heights. The Minister said, as cinema has influence on minds of the people, it propagate the message against terrorism. He said, new age cinema should not only entertain people but also enlighten them on social issues.

Chinese movie Skiptrace, directed by Renny Harlin, was the closing film of the festival. The film festival opened in New Delhi on 2nd of this month with the screening of a Malayalam movie, Veeram.
