He said that India is helping Afghanistan in its reconstruction process through facilitating aids in the field of Education, Health and Infrastructure building. Without giving a timeframe, the Minister also said that India would provide training facilities to the Armed forces of Afghanistan according to their requirement.
On the recently concluded 12th India-Pakistan Defence Secretary level talks on Siachen, the Defence Minister said that both the sides have decided to continue dialogue on the complex issue. Expressing hope that a breakthrough will be reached, he said the talks were fruitful.
Earlier giving away DRDO Technology awards 2010 to eminent Scientists for their contribution in the field of Defence Sciences, Antony cautioned DRDO against delays in the development of strategic warfare technologies. Advocating promotion of indigenous products, he said that DRDO must reach the aim of deep penetrating warfare technology till a range of 5,000 kilometers. The DRDO awards were given to 41 Scientists in 12 categories including life achievement award to Air Commodore R. Gopal Swamy.
