NEW DELHI: India on Thursday successfully test-fired the super-sonic BrahMos cruise missile from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipore off Odisha coast. The 290-km range missile was test-fired at 11 this morning. This is part of trials by the Indian defence forces to fine-tune its capability.
One more feather to India’s missile programme has been added on Thursday with the sucessfull test-firing of super-sonic BrahMos cruise missile from Chandipore of Odisha coast. It has a weight of 3,000 kg with length of 8.1 meter and width 0.6 meter. BrahMos missile, jointly developed by India and Russia, is capable of being launched from multiple platforms like submarines, ships, aircrafts and land based mobile autonomous launchers.
INS Arihant to be operational by 2012.
India’s indigenous nuclear-powered submarine INS Arihant will be operational by 2012.This will complete the nation’s capability to deliver strategic weapons from land, air and undersea. Navy Chief Admiral Nirmal Verma said at his annual press conference in New Delhi that the Arihant, which was launched at Visakhapatnam last year, was making good progress.
