TOKYO: The Prime Ministers of India and Japan have asked their negotiators to arrive at a mutually satisfactory agreement for Civil Nuclear Cooperation at an early date. A joint statement issued at the end of the talks, says that the two leaders have affirmed that cooperation in this sector open up new opportunities for further developing the India-Japan strategic and global partnership.
Earlier, they welcomed the start of the negotiations between the two countries on the agreement for cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy in June, 2010. The two sides also announced the conclusion of the negotiation on comprehensive economic partnership agreement. The agreement is expected to be signed at the earliest after the completion of necessary formalities by both the countries. A Memorandum of Understanding on simplifying Visa procedures between the two countries was also signed. AIR
