Prime Minister Narendra Modi and visiting Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides held high-level bilateral talks in the national capital today, signing a series of pivotal agreements spanning counter-terrorism, technology, and trade.

The exchange of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) includes the establishment of a joint working group on counter-terrorism, alongside partnerships in innovation, higher education, research, and cultural cooperation.

Addressing a joint press conference, PM Modi characterized the India-Cyprus bond as “future-oriented.” He highlighted that Cypriot investments in India have nearly doubled over the past decade, adding that both nations are now targeting another doubling of investment flows over the next five years.

“The India-European Union Free Trade Agreement has unlocked numerous new possibilities, significantly boosting mutual trust,” PM Modi said.

President Christodoulides echoed these sentiments, noting that bilateral ties and EU-India relations have made “leaps of progress” over the past year.

Earlier in the day, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar called on the Cypriot President to discuss strategic cooperation. President Christodoulides, who is on a four-day state visit to India, is scheduled to meet President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan later this evening.
