India and Brazil signed four agreements in areas of investment cooperation and facilitation, cattle genomics, pharmaceuticals and agriculture.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today invited Brazilian companies to invest in the country saying India can be a valuable partner in reviving Brazil’s domestic economic agenda. In his press statement after holding bilateral talks with President of Brazil, Mr Modi said Brazil is among India’s most important trade partner in Latin America.
He said both countries have agreed to scale up engagement in line with mutual desire for reinforced strategic partnership. He expressed gratitude towards Mr. Temer for positively considering request of greater market access and investment opportunities for Indian products and companies. He expressed happiness that both countries are close to finalizing the text of a bilateral investment agreement.
He said both countries have made progress in cooperation in new areas – drug regulation, agriculture research, and cyber security.
The Prime Minister thanked Brazil for understanding India’s aspirations for NSG membership and for supporting India’s actions against terrorism.
He said both nations are natural partners linked by common values of democracy, rule of law and shared aspirations of development, peace and prosperity.
