Heat wave continue to sweep several parts of North India

Heat wave conditions continued to sweep North and North-Western parts of the country. Temperatures at most parts in the region are in the range of 3 to 6 degree Celsius above normal.

heatwaveMet department says heat wave conditions will prevail at most places in Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Saurashtra and Kutch, Gujarat, Vidharbha and East Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Central Maharashtra and at isolated places over Chhattisgarh during next 2 to 3 days.

Delhi recorded maximum temperature 40.5 degree celsius which was three degree above normal. In some parts of the city temperature breached 42 degree celsius mark.

Heat wave also swept several parts of Rajasthan where Barmer was the hottest registering a maximum temperature of 45.5 degrees Celsius. Intense heat wave conditions also swept parts of Haryana and Punjab, with Narnaul being the hottest place in the region recording a maximum temperature of 44 degrees Celsius.

Chandigarh recorded a high of 38.9 degrees Celsius, four degrees above normal.In Punjab, Amritsar saw a hot day at 41 degrees Celsius, nine notches above normal.

Heat wave continues in Madhya Pradesh with Hoshangabad being hottest at 44.7 degree Celsius. Met Office predicted that Hot weather is likely to bother the people of Madhya Pradesh for at least three more days.

The weather in Bihar remained dry with Dehri in Rohtas district being the hottest at 42 degree celsius. However, one or two places in north east and south east parts of Bihar witnessed light rainfall, while the rest parts of the State remained dry.

Severe heat wave conditions continue to prevail in various districts of Vidarbha region of Maharashtra with murcury touching around 44 degree celsius in the last two days. State Election Commission yesterday announced extension of voting hours by one hour during elections to Parbhani, Latur and Chandrapur municipal corporations.

Gujarat is also in the grip of a severe heat wave. Murcury touched 45 degree celsius in some cities in Kutch, Saurashtra and Northern Gujarat. Heat intensifies in Odisha and sunstroke death rises to two in the State. Titlagarh in Balangir district in Western Odisha remained the hottest place with 43.6 degree Celsius.

The mercury breached the 40-degree mark in at least 11 places in the state.
Relief is, however, likely in some areas as the weatherman predict rain or thundershower coupled with gusty surface wind in some places over Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Angul and Jajpur districts today under the impact of a depression over the Bay of Bengal.
