Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani has said that the government is aiming to set up within two months a single-window clearance system for filmmakers to facilitate all types of clearances faster and under one roof.
In a conversation with filmmaker Karan Johar at the inaugural session of FICCI Frames 2018 in Mumbai yesterday, Ms Irani said the government is aiming to bring organisations like National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) and Children’s Film Society of India (CSFI) under one umbrella so that a filmmaker with an idea does not have to run from one desk to another to get the support for executing a film.
“We have seen that in the government till now there are certain aspects of organization that are working in silos so be it the director film festival, be it the national film development corporation, the Films Division or the children’s film society. Now, when you work in silos you basically express to the world and to your own industry that we view the industry as a fragmented industry, which is not the view of this government. We are hopeful that we have a committee which will bring all of these functionalities under one umbrella”, she said.
Earlier Irani inaugurated 2018 edition of FICCI Frame in Mumbai. The three- day global convention covering the entire gamut of Media and Entertainment Industry will attract not only the industry stakeholders from across the world but also the government policy makers from India and abroad.
The event will have more than 35 knowledge sessions by experts besides having over 200 high profile speakers from across the world. This year a maiden edition of Content Market has been added with over 70 buyers for a curated slate of new Indian Films.
A special screening facility has also been set up to introduce festival programmers and key buyers to selected new Indian films.
