There is no let up in the flood situation in Bihar as over one crore people spread over 19 districts are reeling under the impact of flood.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has ordered intensive airdropping of food packets in the four worst hit blocks of Araria district – Kursakanta, Palasi, Sikta and Jokihat and one block of East Champaran district – Sugauli. The Chief Minister has also directed the road construction department to restore the Kishanganj -Araria road to facilitate rescue and relief operations.
Over 4 lakh 60 thousand people have been evacuated from the flood affected areas. About 4 lakh persons have taken shelter in 1,290 relief camps. Cooked food is being served to about 3 lakh people at 1,646 community kitchens set up across the state. Twenty eight teams of NDRF along with 16 SDRF teams are conducting the relief operations.
UP: 37 districts affected by flood
In Uttar Pradesh, 37 districts have been badly hit by floods. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the officials to ensure airdropping of food packets in flood affected areas in case the marooned areas were inaccessible even by boats.
Mr yogi is on visit to Gorakhpur, Maharajganj and Kushi Nagar flood affected districts. It is his second visit to Gorakhpur and Maharajganj in the current spell of floods in the State.
Flood has claimed 38 lives so far, especially in eastern parts of the state. About 15 lakh people were hit in above 2000 villages.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath yesterday undertook an aerial survey of the worst a affected areas in Balrampur and Siddharthnagar districts to take stock of the situation. 646 flood outposts have been set up and 209 relief camps were operational in which 19,564 people have taken shelter across the State.
Besides, about 50000 people have been shifted to safer places with the help of SSB, NDRF and PAC personnel.
In Gorakhpur movement of traffic on the Gorakhpur-Sonauli road towards Nepal has come to a standstill as waters of the Rohin river has inundated Maniram township and the national highway.
In Bahraich district rivers Ghaghra and Saryu are continously rising and have affected several villages in Mahsi, Nanpara and Kaiserganj areas.
In Barabanki, about 50 metres of the Elgin-Charsadi embankment has been submerged affecting eight villages. Sharda is also flowing above the red mark at Lakhimpur Kheri
