Domestic market ends in green

Benchmark domestic equity indices today ended positively, supported by Oil and Gas, Energy and Healthcare sectors. The 30-share index at the Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex, gained 234 points, or 0.3 per cent, to close at 78,199. Similarly, the National Stock Exchange Nifty-50 added 92 points, almost 0.4 percent, to settle at 23,708.

The benchmark equity indices ended Tuesday’s trading session in positive territory. The 30-share Sensex added 234.12 points or 0.30 per cent to settle at 78,199.11. The index traded in the range of 78,452.74 – 77,925.09 today. 

NSE Nifty50 settled in the green at 23,707.90 with gains of 91.85 points or 0.39 per cent. Nifty50 was seen at the day’s high of 23,795.20, while the day’s low was quoted at 23,637.80. 

32 out of 50 constituent stocks of Nifty50 ended in the green with the gains led by ONGC, SBI Life, Tata Motors, HDFC Life, and Adani Enterprises of up to 3.79 per cent. Conversely, Trent, HCL Tech, TCS, Eicher Motors, and Tech Mahindra were among the 18 stocks that ended in the red with losses extending up to 2.20 per cent. 

Among the broader markets, small-cap shares outperformed others, with the Nifty Smallcap100 ending up 1.35 per cent. Meanwhile, the Nifty Midcap100 index ended with gains of 0.89 per cent.  All the sectoral indices, barring Nifty IT, ended in the green on Tuesday. Among them, Nifty Metal, select healthcare, and Media indices ended with gains of over 1 per cent each.

The broader market indices at BSE outperformed the equity market. The Mid-Cap index advanced over 0.7 percent and the Small-Cap index surged over 1.7 percent.
