Soni Shabnam, a lady of Mandawli, acquired a shop in Allah Colony of the area to start a chicken and fish shop but some people in the area with the alleged connivance of local police did not allow her to start her business. On Delhi Minorities Commission intervention, she was able to undertake required changes in the shop, acquire a water connection as well as a licence from the municipality to start her business but still some locals with alleged police connivance are not allowing her to start her business.
Taking a serious view of this prolonged matter, Delhi Minorities Commission Chairman Dr. Zafarul-Islam Khan has written to DCP East to help the lady to start her business after she has acquired a licence. Dr Khan further said that stern action will be taken against any police officer “found responsible for obstructing the right of a citizen to carry out her legitimate business.”
