PARIKARDefence Minister Manohar Parrikar has said that there was no sabotage involved in the fire at the central ammunition depot in Pulgaon, Maharashtra. Mr. Parrikar said exact cause would be known only after inquiry as it is too early to speculate about the cause. Mr Parrikar said 130 tonnes of anti-tank mines were destroyed in the fire.

The Defence Minister also visited the injured personnel at the Datta Meghe Medical College and Hospital at Sawangi Meghe in the district.

The fire, which took 16 lives including two officers and injuring 17 people, in Central Ammunition Depot in Pulgaon in Maharashtra, has been completely doused and situation brought under control. Director General of Military Operations Lieutenant General Ranbir Singh informed in New Delhi adding that the cause of fire has not yet been ascertained.

He said, action to assess damage is in progress and inquiry has been ordered.
General Singh said, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and Army Chief General Dalbir Singh and senior defence officials have visited the site to take stock of the situation.
