The release of CUET (UG) city intimation information has triggered widespread concern among aspirants, with hundreds alleging that their preferred examination cities have been overlooked.
Candidates across the country, particularly those who opted for centres within and around the National Capital Region (NCR) being assigned examination cities in distant locations, often in other states. The development has left many students scrambling to make last-minute travel arrangements during a crucial phase of their preparation.
“In my application, I selected four locations in and around Delhi as suggested, but none were considered. Instead, I’ve been allotted Mohali. I don’t know how a poor student like me will manage the expenses, especially in this extreme heat,” said a Delhi-based candidate, requesting anonymity.
Similar complaints have emerged from other aspirants who have been assigned centres in cities such as Jaipur and Agra, far from their original preferences.
The issue has raised questions over the purpose of allowing candidates to select preferred exam cities if those choices are not ultimately accommodated. For many students, the unexpected allocations have caused confusion and anxiety just days before the examination.
Beyond inconvenience, the financial and logistical burden is significant. Travelling to another city entails additional expenses for transport and accommodation—costs that many families may struggle to bear. Moreover, the stress associated with long-distance travel in peak summer conditions could adversely affect candidates’ performance in a highly competitive examination.
The discontent has spilled onto social media platforms, where students have described the situation as “mental harassment” and are demanding immediate intervention. Many are urging authorities to either revise the allocations or ensure greater transparency in the process of centre assignment.
