The Communist Party of India today condemned the US move to impose sanctions on the import of Iranian crude.

The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India severely condemns the US decision to impose sanctions on any country that imports Iranian crude after May 2.

“The unilateral decision of the US Administration imposing its will on other countries needs to be condemned by one and all. US imperialism’s authoritarian sanction against Iran is unjustified and it should be fought back”party said in a statemnt.

The waiver time will be over by May 2. External affairs minister Sushma Swaraj asked the US to extend the waiver which is unlikely. The Party urges the Indian government to take a firm stand and reject the US threat of sanctions. The international prices of crude oil are going up. India is getting comparatively cheaper oil from Iran.

Hence, India cannot afford to stop energy imports from Iran. The US threat with May 2 deadline has already resulted in hitting the world economy including ours.
