The ruling Congress party in Assam has formed an alliance with United Peoples’ Party, UPP ahead of upcoming assembly polls. Talking to media in Guwahati yesterday, state Congress President Anjan Dutta said, the party has given 4 seats to UPP while in 9 seats there would be friendly contest. Meanwhile, all the major parties are in the final process of announcing candidates list. Yesterday was the last date for Congress ticket aspirants to apply for a party ticket.
The BJP and AIUDF are likely to announce name of candidates this week. BJP’s ally Asom Gana Parishad will announce its first candidate list on Wednesday. Left fronts are also expected to announce candidate list soon. Assembly Polls in the state will be held on 4th and 11th of April.
