Expressing concern over terror blast at Delhi High Court, the Chief Justice Kapadia even asked the senior counsel and Rajya Sabha member Abhishek Manu Singhvi to provide a detailed note on the security system in the parliament house complex and the estimated cost of such an arrangement in the Supreme Court.
Chief Justice S.H. Kapadia Wednesday adjourned the hearing of a case after a Delhi High Court bomb explosion, and decided to visit the blast site.
Soon after adjourning the hearing of the Vodafone tax matter till lunch break, Chief Justice went to Delhi High Court to look the blast site.
Senior counsel Singhvi, Harish Salve and Solicitor General Rohinton Nariman were present in the court when court was hearing Vodafone matter.
It is learnt that the Chief Justice Kapadia along with other senior judges of the apex court held a meeting and decided on tightening the security arrangement and plugging all loopholes in the existing system apex court security.
Giving expression to the deliberation of the meeting Justice Altamas Kabir in the post lunch proceedings of the court said, “We are going to take certain measure. You may like it or not.”
Justice Kabir said this after senior counsel Mukul Rohtagi told the court that after last bomb blast at Delhi High court in May this year no steps were taken to prevent the repeat of the same. He said there were no CCTV installed at the entrance of the court premises. He senior counsel Rohtagi told the court that it should manage its own security.
