China confirms 121 new Coronavirus deaths

The official death toll from the Novel Corona virus outbreak in Hubei province, China rose by 121 on Friday bringing the total death toll to nearly 1,500.

The Hubei’s Provincial Health Commission today said that nearly 5,000 new confirmed cases reported yesterday. The National Health Commission said, the total number of confirmed Corona virus cases on national level soared up to 65,000.

Most of the deaths occurred in Wuhan, the province’s capital where the Corona virus is believed to have originated.

The increase in cases came after health authorities started counting cases diagnosed through new clinical methods. At least 27 countries have confirmed cases and several nations have evacuated their citizens from Hubei.

Three deaths have been recorded outside China, one in Hong Kong one in the Philippines, and one in the Japan. The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned the virus poses a grave threat to the world.

Six health workers dead, over 1,700 infected from coronavirus in China

six health workers have died and more than 1,700 have been infected from the novel coronavirus. The health officials underscored the risks doctors and nurses have taken amid shortages of masks and protective suits.

The figure comes a week after public anger erupted over the death of a whistleblowing doctor who had been reprimanded and silenced by police after raising the alarm about the virus in December.
