maggieCentre today referred the Maggi noodles issue to the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) for appropriate action in view of unhealthy ingredients in the product. Briefing reporters in New Delhi, Food Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said the report of Food Safety and Standards Authority of India over the quality contents of the Maggi may take some time and looking at the seriousness of matter, the government has decided to file a suo motu complaint with NCDRC.

He said many samples of Maggi have been found unsafe which is a serious issue. Replying to a question about action against the brand ambassadors of the product, Mr. Paswan said it is not about any individual but it’s about endorsing right product. He said the issue involves aspects of unfair trade and misleading advertisement which will be looked into. When asked about testing of other Maggi like products, the Minister said if there is any complaint, the government will look into it. He also expressed concern over the increasing habit of fast foods consumptions among the youth and children.
