Inaugurating the fourth Southern Forest Ministers Conference here Environment and Forests Minister Jairam Ramesh said that the project was part of the national action plan on climate change. He said that the plan would get approval at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Delhi on the February 22.

Ramesh said that the objective of the ‘Green India Mission’ project was to increase the forest cover in five million hectares and to protect forest areas in the country.
