cbi_logoCentral Bureau of Investigation on Friday quizzed HR Khan, a former Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank, in connection with the alleged bank fraud cases related to Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi and UPA government’s relaxation of gold import policy.

As per sources, the former deputy governor was questioned about the UPA’s 20:80 gold import scheme cleared by then Finance Minister P Chidambaram just three days before the counting of votes in the 2014 general election on May 13, 2014.

The probe agency which is investigating the alleged Rs 13,000-crore PNB scam involving Nirav Modi and his uncle Mehul Choksi, had questioned RBI’s three Chief General Managers and one General Manager on Thursday.

Meanwhile, according to RBI sources, the bank officials were called to inquire about policy matters.

Nirav Modi, who is not in the country, his company namely Firestar Diamnod has filed bankruptcy in a New York Court.
