Senior Congress leader and former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram on Tuesday said just as the talk of ‘one nation one tax’ by the NDA government had turned out to be false and the pitch by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ‘one nation one election ‘ was nothing but a ‘jumla ‘.
”In a Parliamentary democracy, especially when we have 30 states, under the present Constitution you cannot have simultaneous election.
“This is another of these election jumla.One nation, one tax was a jumla. Now one nation, one election is a jumla,” Mr Chidambaram said at a panel discussion after the release of his book “Speaking Truth to Power’ here this evening.
