The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday rubbished EVM tampering claims made in London as ‘garbage’, and termed it Congress’ ‘next big lie’ after Rafale. It said that Congress making hacking a ‘horror show’ of their ‘defeat in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley called EVM hacking claim ‘the next big lie’ after Rafale and said that the allegations were ‘absolutely rubbish’. Taking to Twitter, Jaitley said that ‘insanity’ in the Congress party is becoming ‘contagious’ and called the allegations of EVM tampering ‘garbage’.

“After Rafale, the non-existent loan waiver to 15 industrialists – the next big lie – EVM hacking… Was the Election Commission & millions of Staffers involved in manufacturing, programming of EVMs & conduct of elections during the UPA Government in collusion with the BJP – absolutely rubbish… Does the Congress feel that the people are so gullible that they will swallow any garbage? Insanity in the Congress party is increasingly becoming contagious,” Jaitley said in a series of tweets.

A US-based hacker, Syed Suja, on Monday alleged that EVMs in India can be tampered with. While the Election Commission and political parties were invited for the conference, only Congress leader Kapil Sibal was present for the event. Hitting out at Sibal, Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that the senior Congress leader was sent by Rahul and Sonia Gandhi to ‘defame’ the democratic set-up of the country.
