Rahul GandhiCongress president Rahul Gandhi today alleged that BJP led NDA Government at the Centre was oppressing Dalits, Tribals and downtrodden sections of society. He said that his party would vehemently fight this ‘anti-Dalit’ and anti-poor’ mindset of the Governemt and ‘will defeat them in 2019.

Talking to media persosns after a day-long fast observed by him along with senior congress leaders at Rajghat to highlight the anti-Dalit policies of the NDA Government and to promote communal harmony, Mr Gandhi said,’this government is oppressing the Tribals, the Dalits and the downtrodden sections of society.

“We will fight lifelong against such mindset. And we will fight and defeat them in 2019,’ he added.
Talking about the fast, Rahul said the nationwide fast by the party was to protest and highlight the ‘anti-Dalit and ‘anti-poor’ mindset of this regime which is ‘suppressing people and creating a division in society.”

‘The workers of the Congress party are today fasting throughout the country against the suppressive policies of this government towards Dalits and minorities and their politics of division,’ he said.
In this regard, he pointed out that the BJP Dalit MPs have written to the Prime Minister and also told him that he is a casteist and was never in favour of dalits and the downtrodden.

The Congress workers, under the leadership of their party president Rahul Gandhi are observing a nationwide fast against the ‘politics of division’ followed by the BJP and ‘anti-Dalit ‘ attitude of the NDA Government.

As part of the protest, Mr Gandhi participated in a fast at Rajghat with Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken, Leader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, veteran Congress leader Motilal Vora, AICC general secretary Ashok Gehlot, former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, AICC general secretary incharge for Delhi PC Chacko and several party leaders and workers.
