The Covid 19 pandemic continued its upward trend with a sample positivity rate touching 33.37 percent on Friday, highest ever since the first case of Coronavirus was reported in March 2020. The positivity rate on Thursday was reported to be 31.98 percent.
The country also reported 20 more deaths on Friday taking the death toll to 28, 308 and case tally to over 17.62 lakh. However, the overall mortality rate in the country due to Covid stood at 1.61 percent.
A total of 69 cases of Omicron variant of Covid 19 infection has been detected in Bangladesh so far including 5 cases till Sunday, according to the GISAID, the global initiative to share all influenza data.
Meanwhile, more than 9.64 crore people in Bangladesh have received the first dose of the vaccine while over 6.05 crore people have received both the doses of the vaccine as on Thursday.
