The States of Victoria, New South Wales, and Tasmania in Australia are evacuating the residents as torrential rain brings major flooding. Many parts of the country have received more than three times their average rainfall this month in just 24 hours.
According to media reports, at least 500 homes have been flooded, one person has died and another is missing in the flood-related incidents.
Australia’s second most populous state, Victoria, has been worst hit this week. Widespread flooding is driven by a La Nina weather pattern that killed more than 20 people this year in Australia.
