The Arab League plans to hold an emergency meeting to discuss the recent row between Saudi Arabia and Iran. Foreign Ministers of the member Arab states will meet on Sunday in the Egyptian capital of Cairo.Saudi Arabia called the emergency meeting.
The kingdom broke off ties with Iran after Riyadh executed a prominent Shia cleric. The execution spawned protests in Iran where Shia Muslims are the majority. Angry protesters attacked the Saudi embassy in Tehran. Arab League Deputy Chief Ahmed Ben Helli said the upcoming talks are aimed at condemning Iran’s actions against the sanctity of the Saudi embassy in Tehran.
