ALIGARH: Aligarh Muslim University campus will soon be a 100 percent WiFi-Zone. After a recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between AMU and National Informatics Centre Services Inc, University Grants Commission (UGC), the university campus will have WiFi-Internet cover in all varsity departments, residential halls and offices.
This MoU aims at participating in comprehensive project under ‘National Mission on Education through ICT’ (NMEICT) being undertaken centrally by NICSI, a Section 8 company under National Informatics Centre, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
The objective of this prestigious project is not only the augmentation and expansion of the existing WiFi solutions of AMU, which presently provides a partial cover to the varsity campus, but also addresses the constraints and limitations of the currently operational WiFi services in AMU.
The MoU was recently signed during a meeting of Vice Chancellors of Central Universities held at the UGC, New Delhi.
Professor M M Sufiyan Beg, Principal Zakir Hussain College of Engineering and Technology represented AMU on deputation by the AMU Vice Chancellor, Lt General Zameer Uddin Shah (retd). He was accompanied by Dr P. M. Khan, Director, Computer Centre, AMU.
Prof Miraj Uddin Mir, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Kashmir presided over the meeting in the presence of UGC Joint Secretary and a representative of the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
