Strongly condemning the police lathicharge against students of the Banaras Hindu university who were protesting against eve teasing incidents in the university, the congress today urged President Ram Nath Kovind to dismiss the Vice Chancellor and institute a probe by a sitting High court judge.
Addressing a joint press conference along with the DUSU president Rocky Tuseed and vice president Kunal, AICC spokesperson Manish Tewari said the role of the Vice Chancellor of the university had been highly insensitive in the matter.
‘The President should immediately take cognizance of the matter and sack the VC of the university. This is an extremely sensitive matter.
A probe headed by a high court judge should be instituted in the incident and strict action be taken against the culprits,’ he said.
