Egyptian police say, a man wielding a knife has stabbed two German women to death and wounded 4 other foreign tourists at a Red Sea resort in eastern Egypt.

Police detained the man after he carried out the attack at a hotel beach in Hurghada yesterday. The assailant’s motive is being investigated.

Police say the man swam from a nearby beach to gain access to the attack site. Injured tourists were transferred to a hospital.

In a separate incident, five police officers were killed when gunmen stormed their car near Cairo, the country’s capital.

No one has claimed responsibility for the two incidents.
