Flood situation still remains grim as new areas submerged in Assam today. The mighty Brahmaputra is flowing above the danger mark at Nematighat, Tezpur, Guwahati and Dhubri. Nearly 4 lakh people have been affected at 15 districts in the state.
State Disaster Response Force has been deployed in relief and rescue measures at Karimganj district. Nearly 300 stranded people have been shifted to safer places .
Flood water damaged houses, roads , crop land and embankments. Road communication has been snapped at flood hit districts. 41 thousand people are taking shelter at 128 relief camps being operated by district administrations.
Meanwhile, state Water Resource department has expedited measures to prevent breach of river embankment. Water Resource minister Keshab Mahanta holds review meeting with the officials to repair breaches.
