The President of India, the Vice President of India, Prime minister and other leader today greeted people on the occasion on Eid ul Fitr
The President of India, Pranab Mukherjee in his message the President has said, “On the auspicious occasion of Idu’l Fitr, I extend greetings and good wishes to all my fellow citizens, particularly my Muslim brothers and sisters, in India and abroad.
May this joyous occasion, which marks the culmination of the period of fasting and prayer during the Holy month of Ramzan, bring happiness, peace and prosperity and be an opportunity to rededicate ourselves to serve humanity.
May this day, strengthen in each one of us, an unflinching faith in our unity and common destiny that has characterised our composite culture over the ages”.

The Vice President of India, M. Hamid Ansari in a message said that Id-ul-Fitr marks the culmination of the holy month of Ramzan and signifies the traditional expression of brotherhood and understanding between people. The festival reaffirms the spirit of compassion, charity and generosity in our lives, he added.
“I convey my heartiest greetings and good wishes to the people of our country on the joyous occasion of Id-ul-Fitr.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a tweet expressed hope that this auspicious day will further the spirit of peace and brotherhood in the society.
Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated with religious fervour and enthusiasm in various parts of the country today. The faithfuls attired in their best thronged Eidgahs and mosques to offer Eid prayers. Later they exchanged Eid greetings.
In Delhi, main congregations were held at Jama Masjid, Fatehpuri Masjid and Shahi Eidgah. Speaking on the occasion, the Imams, who led the prayers appealed to the people to maintain peace and harmony and prayed for the progress and prosperity of the country.
The celebration of Eid promotes national integration and the feeling of brotherhood. Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the occasion. Reports of Eid celebrations have also come in from other parts of the country.
