Arvind Kejriwal becomes the 1st Chief Minister to stand trial in a criminal defamation case. In a major setback, A Delhi court has ordered trial against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and five leaders of Aam Admi Party in the defamation case filed by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
Jaitely had filed a suit in 2015 seeking 10 crore rupee damage from Kejriwal and others, claiming they made false and defamatory statements in the case involving Delhi District Cricket Association, DDCA.
The Court framed notice against Kejriwal and others after they pleaded not guilty and claimed trial. The trial will commence on May 20.
