Shiv Sena nominee Vishwanath Mahadeshwar was elected Mayor of Mumbai, with the support of the BJP. Both the parties had fought the elections separately, but BJP had announced, it would not contest for the post. Mahadeshwar defeated Congress nominee Vitthal Lokare by 171-31 margin.
