modi kashmirPrime Minister Narendra Modi today called upon people of Punjab not to vote for Congress in the upcoming Assembly elections in the State describing the party as a sinking ship and history.

Addressing a joint election rally of BJP and Shiromani Akali Dal in Jalandhar, Mr Modi challenged the Opposition parties to change the political discourse in the country. He called for the politics of development.

Talking about his fight against corruption, Mr Modi said people, who had accumulated black money in the last 70 years, were affected by demonetization.

Referring to the controversial Sutlej Yamuna Link Canal issue, the Prime Minister said, Punjab river waters are for its farmers only. He said that BJP and SaD alliance Government will bring water of Indus river which is flowing into Pakistan for the farmers of the state.

Mr Modi said that in recent years, attempts were made to defame Punjab, its brave people and its youth. He urged the people to be aware of such elements. He said that this election is an opportunity to reject those trying to defame Punjab.

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal in his address again recounted the achievements of government in the state and urged people to vote for them again to get the full benefits of centrally sponsored schemes.
