At least 23 people were killed when a tourist boat carrying almost 250 people caught fire off the northern coast of Jakarta on Sunday, government officials said.

National Search and Rescue Agency Deputy Chief Heronimus Guru said that 32 of the 224 survivors had been injured and rushed to three hospitals in North Jakarta.

Seply Madreta of the Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Agency told Kyodo News that “the information we received…said most of the people killed were still on board.”
